Memory syntax: decisions, goals & corrections
Write “Decision [Topic]: …” and Thread remembers it — and tracks changes.
Thread builds lasting memory only from statements you mark explicitly. Start a line with a type, an optional topic in brackets, and a colon:
Decision [Pricing]: Starter plan is €9 per month.
Goal [Q3]: 500 active users.
Constraint [Launch]: No launch before the audit.
Fact [Office]: The office moves to Riga in May.
Preference: Meetings before noon.
Hypothesis [Growth]: Referrals could double signups.Supported types: Decision, Goal, Constraint, Definition, Preference, Instruction, Fact, Hypothesis. German, Russian and Latvian words work too (Entscheidung, Решение, Lēmums, …).
Changing your mind
Write a new statement about the same topic. To make it an explicit correction, start with No, / Correction: / Actually,:
Decision [Pricing]: No, Starter is €12 per month. The old decision becomes Earlier — kept for history, excluded from current answers. If two statements conflict without a correction, Thread flags the conflict under Needs a quick check on the Ask page instead of guessing.
Hypotheses
Hypotheses are never presented as fact; answers label them “Unconfirmed idea:”.
Who wins?
Your corrections outrank your decisions, which outrank notes, which outrank imported documents and outside sources. AI suggestions never override anything you wrote.
Mark a note Don’t remember from this to keep it searchable without it ever becoming memory.
