Your account & sync

With an account your Thread stays in sync on your laptop and phone, and you can use your own AI key. Creating an account starts your 30-day full trial (no credit card). Without an account, Thread still works — locally on that one device, with no trial clock.

Create your account

1. In the app, press Save this Thread (after a search, in Settings → Account, or under Plan & billing). Enter your email and a password (8+ characters, letters and numbers).
2. Enter the code from the confirmation email (or open the link). Sync turns on by itself — everything already on this device is uploaded and kept, and your 30-day trial starts.
3. If you created the account from the website instead, open Settings → Account and press Turn on sync.

Already using Thread without an account? Nothing is lost: save the account on that device and this Thread is the one that syncs.

Sign in on another device

Sign in with your password, or choose Email me a sign-in link. Then in Settings → Account choose Sync with “My Thread”. Notes already on the new device are kept and merged.

Forgot your password?

Use Reset password and follow the link in the email.

Conflicts

If the same field was edited on two devices while offline, Thread keeps both versions and asks you to choose in Settings → Data → Conflicts. Nothing is overwritten silently.

Device synchronization & attachment relay

Metadata and notes synchronize in real-time across your registered devices. File attachments and voice note originals use Orbit Thread’s ephemeral relay architecture: files are encrypted on your device before transfer with a key only the receiving devices can open, held temporarily for up to 7 days, and deleted once every receiving device confirms it stored the file.

Shared Spaces

Thread Team shared Spaces are coming soon and are not generally available yet.

If a secondary device reconnects after a relay transfer has expired, it indicates that the file is unavailable locally and provides a one-click button to request a peer re-relay from any of your other devices that have the file.
