Persistent, source-linked project context

Chat remembers the conversation. Thread keeps the work.

AI that remembers your work holds notes, files, decisions and transcripts in one workspace. When optional AI is used, Thread retrieves relevant material and shows the sources behind sourced statements.

A factual comparison

Conversation history is not the same as a project record.

Ordinary chat history

Useful inside the current conversation

  • Context depends on what the chat currently contains
  • Project files and decisions may need to be supplied again
  • The answer may not point to a durable workspace source

Orbit Thread workspace

A persistent record you can inspect

  • Notes, current file text and explicit decisions stay in the workspace
  • Retrieval is scoped by Space and item policy
  • Sourced statements include citations and a context inspector

Why visible sources matter

A citation is an invitation to check.

Thread does not turn model output into certainty. It keeps the evidence close enough to inspect before you rely on the answer.

Open the evidence and make the final judgment yourself.

Model choice

Capture and search already work without this.

Add a model only when the extra capability is useful to you.

AI off

Capture, reading and lexical search continue without a model.

Compatible software and downloaded models run on your computer.

Practical questions

AI and memory, precisely stated

Does Thread prevent incorrect model answers?

No model can guarantee that. Thread retrieves evidence, cites sourced statements and lets you inspect the material used. Important conclusions still need your review.

What happens when an old decision changes?

Explicit or unambiguous changes can mark an earlier decision as superseded. Ambiguous conflicts remain visible for review rather than being silently discarded.

Can I use Thread without a model?

Yes. Capture, editing, document extraction and lexical search work without optional reasoning or embedding models.

Where does model processing happen?

Compatible local software can run on your computer. With your own provider key, relevant excerpts pass through Thread’s server relay to the provider you configure.
