Ask & “Why?”

Ask retrieves policy-eligible material from your Thread and produces source-backed answers. Numbered citations open the underlying source so you can check important statements.

How answers are built

1. Thread gathers context: matching notes, current decisions, where-things-stand summaries and linked people and topics.
2. Earlier (superseded) decisions are excluded unless you ask about history.
3. Items you’ve marked Don’t use with AI are never included when an AI model writes the answer.
4. The answer is checked against retrieved evidence; unsupported statements are removed or flagged.

Without AI turned on, Ask still works: it assembles an answer directly from your decisions and matching passages.

Why?

Tap Why? under an answer to inspect its sources, why they were included, whether they’re current or earlier, and exclusions Thread reports.

Review

The Needs a quick check list on the Ask page shows what Thread understood that needs your eye: conflicting decisions, unconfirmed ideas and AI suggestions. Confirm or reject with one tap.
